The Guide to Fast Living - St. Louis Punk and Alternative Compilation Series
The Guide to Fast Living name first started being used by Alien Feedings in 1995 for a CD compilation series that featured St. Louis punk and alternative bands. This is the official page of that Guide to Fast Living project.
History of the Guide to Fast Living
In 1994 Otto's Revenge was in the studio (2 Relaxed Studios) recording its newest release when once again a band member (bass player Paul Sontheimer) decided to quit, stalling the project. At that point the band had only finished one song: Clint Eastwood (see the video for Clint Eastwood).
Lead singer Kurt Hoffmann was determined to still put out the song and had the idea to find another local band to contribute a song to put out a shared single. The concept grew into the idea to have multiple St. Louis area punk and alternative bands participate to create a mini harder version of local alternative radio station 105.7 The Point's "Pointessential" series (the first of which by the way included Otto's Revenge's "Government Spies").
As Kurt put out the word, the response was overwhelming positive that number of bands to be featured went from an anticipated 5 or so to 18.
